Selita Ebanks (born February 15, 1983 in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) is a supermodel.

Selita Ebanks was born in Georgetown, Cayman Islands on February 15, 1983. She was raised in a large family that included seven brothers, and because of that, Selita played many sports growing up, such as basketball, football and tennis. The Ebanks family was quite poor, living in what Selita described as „a little blue, zinc-roof shack on Walkers Road”. Oftentimes, Selita didn’t have shoes to wear to Georgetown primary school. Selita’s family, her mother in particular, encourage her development through extra-currciular programs.

Later in life Selita Ebanks moved to the U.S., and settled at Staten Island. After moving to New York City she was accepted at Columbia and New York University. She had planned to study law, but at 17 she was discovered by a modeling agent at New Jersey’sSix Flags Great Adventure. Selita was a former attendee of the prestigious institution; John F. Kennedy Middle School. While attending the institution she was a member of the debate team.

Ebanks is currently a Victoria’s Secret model. She had previously down work for their Ipex Bra line, before being signed.

My very first job with Victoria’s Secret, and I wasn’t signed yet, was for the Ipex Bra. There was me, Gisele, and another girl. That was an amazing experience for me because I just went into a casting for the commercial and I got it, and I was like, WOW.”[3]

She and fellow up-and-coming model Izabel Goulart made their major debut in the 2005 Victoria’s Secret fashion shows. She is now officially one of Victoria’s Secret angels.

Ebanks views Tyra Banks as a mentor, and in 2005 Banks said she was proud of her to be representing for Black women in Victoria’s Secret.

She was also featured in the Pharell and Kanye West video „Number 1”, alongside fellow Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr.

Selita is also a proud sister of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
